Opposition Protests on Parliament Security Breach Prompt LS Adjournment until 12.30 pm

The Lok Sabha proceedings on Tuesday were adjourned until 12.30 pm amid opposition protests demanding a statement from Union Home Minister Amit Shah on the Parliament security breach and the withdrawal of the suspension of MPs. The disruptions led to the first adjournment at 11 am until 12 noon, and as protests persisted, the House was adjourned again until 12.30 pm. Opposition members, including some in the Well of the House, voiced their demands through slogans and placards, with a few displaying a morphed picture of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi condemned the display of the morphed image and called for action against the MPs involved. Speaker Om Birla reprimanded the opposition for bringing placards into the House, emphasizing that it violated rules. Despite warnings, opposition members continued their protests, prompting further adjournments. Similar scenes occurred during the 12 noon session, with MPs displaying placards despite warnings. Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, seated in the opposition benches, had a placard in front of her demanding a discussion on the security breach. The adjournments follow the suspension of 33 opposition members on Monday for displaying placards and raising slogans over the Parliament security breach issue.
