Nava Kerala Sadas enters TVM today; venues and routes declared ‘red zones’ for 3 days

The Kerala government’s month-long Nava Kerala Sadas outreach program is set to enter the state capital, Thiruvananthapuram, on Wednesday evening. In preparation for its arrival, the state police have designated the venues, surrounding areas, and respective routes as “temporary red zones” for three days, from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm. The order issued by District Police Chief Kiran Narayanan also includes a complete ban on the use of drones and drone cameras, except for official purposes, within the red zone areas. The Nava Kerala Sadas events are scheduled in locations within Varkala, Attingal, Mangalapuram, Venjaramoodu, Nedumangadu, Aryanad, Kattakkada, Neyyattinkara, and Parassala police station limits, falling under rural Thiruvananthapuram.

The decision to impose a “red zone” status and restrict drone usage has been met with criticism from opposition parties and groups, who argue that the reported unprecedented security arrangements for the outreach program are excessive. The Nava Kerala Sadas, which commenced last month, is slated to conclude in Thiruvananthapuram on December 23.
