Mumbai: Indian equity benchmark indices bounced back into positive territory on today. BSE Sensex inched up by 0.51%, gaining 358.79 points to settle at 70,865.10. NSE Nifty climbed by 0.5%, adding 104.90 points to settle at 21,255.05.
On the BSE 3,873 stocks were traded, of which, 2,566 advanced, while 1,161 declined and 146 stocks remained unchanged. As many as 145 stocks hit a 52 week high and 36 stocks hit a 52 week low.

Top gainers were Britannia industries Ltd (2.68%), Power grid corporation of India Ltd (2.11%), Hindalco industries Ltd. (1.91%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (2.12%), HDFC Bank Ltd (1.87%). Top losers were Axis Bank Ltd (-1.76%), Bajaj finance ltd (-1.96%), Bajaj auto Ltd (-1.92%), Cipla Limited (-1.39%, Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (-1.06%).
Although all the sectors continue to trade in the red on Thursday, the Nifty Smallcap 100 has recovered from the red at 14,572.05, up by 164.20 points or 1.14 per cent and the Nifty Midcap 100 is positive at 44,316.45, up by 291.50 points or 0.66 per cent. They were down over 500 and 1000 points, respectively, on Wednesday.
