“Fast and Furious” star Vin Diesel is currently facing serious sexual assault allegations brought forth by his former assistant, Asta Jonasson, as outlined in a lawsuit filed on December 21. The legal action accuses the action star of sexually assaulting Jonasson over ten years ago in an Atlanta hotel room during the shooting of “Fast Five.”
According to the lawsuit, Jonasson’s initial assignment after being hired by Diesel’s company involved assisting the actor in leaving a hotel in the early morning hours after entertaining multiple women in a suite during the filming in September 2010. The suit alleges that, while alone in the hotel suite, Vin Diesel sexually assaulted Jonasson by forcibly grabbing her, groping her breasts, and kissing her. Despite her repeated objections, the assault escalated, with Diesel attempting to pull down Jonasson’s underwear.
The lawsuit further details that Jonasson sought refuge in a bathroom, but Diesel pursued her, forcing her to touch him and then pinning her against a wall while masturbating. The following day, Samantha Vincent, Diesel’s sister and president of One Race, the entertainment company that employed Jonasson, allegedly called and terminated her employment. The suit asserts that Jonasson was fired for resisting Diesel’s sexual assault, creating a clear message that Diesel would be protected, and the incident would be covered up.
The civil suit is seeking unspecified damages against Diesel, Vincent, and their respective companies. In response, Diesel’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, stated that his client “categorically denies this claim in its entirety” and that there is evidence that “completely refutes” the allegations. Jonasson, notably, has chosen to waive the customary right to anonymity granted to victims of alleged sexual abuse. This development adds to a series of claims lodged in California courts, taking advantage of the extended time frame for legal action in cases of alleged sexual crimes.
