Mumbai: According to the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI’s) holiday calendar, bank branches in various regions of the country will remain closed for up to 5 days during Christmas, which includes weekends.
The apex bank in the country, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) releases the list of bank holidays every month. Bank holidays are notified under 3 categories- Negotiable Instruments Act, Holiday, Real Time Gross Settlement Holiday and Banks’ Closing of Accounts. The regional holidays are decided by the respective state governments.

State-wise Bank Holiday List During Christmas:
December 25 (Monday, Christmas): Banks are closed in all states.
December 26 (Tuesday, extended Christmas Celebrations): Banks are closed in Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Meghalaya.
December 27 (Wednesday, Christmas Celebrations): Banks Are Closed In Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland.
Remaining bank holidays in December 2023:
17. December 30, 2023: U Kiang Nangbah (Meghalaya).
18. December 31, 2023: Sunday.
