Tragedy struck as a four-month-old boy lost his life from injuries sustained in an apparent “attack” by a stray dog in the Shaikpet area, officials confirmed on Monday. The unfortunate incident occurred on December 8 when the infant’s parents, both laborers, had left him in a cradle within their hut while they went for work. Three stray dogs approached the hut, and one of them entered the doorless structure, biting the baby on the face and forehead, according to a civic official. The injured infant was subsequently admitted to a state-run hospital in Hyderabad, where he tragically passed away on Sunday while undergoing treatment.
The grieving parents, originally from Mahabubnagar district in Telangana, faced this heartbreaking loss. In response to the incident, authorities implemented guidelines, capturing approximately 20 stray dogs in the vicinity. However, upon examination, all the captured dogs were found to have been previously sterilized, and they were subsequently released. This unfortunate incident echoes a similar tragedy that occurred on February 19 of the same year, where a group of stray dogs attacked and fatally injured a four-year-old boy in the Amberpet area of the city.
