Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy inaugurated ‘Aadudam Andhra,’ a comprehensive sports competition spanning grassroots to the state level. The 47-day event, taking place at Nallapadu village in the district, aims to encourage and identify talent in various sports such as cricket, volleyball, badminton, and others. Reddy emphasized that the initiative, held in a festival-like atmosphere, would become a historic milestone, involving participants from villages and promoting physical activity.
The chief minister outlined the dual goals of making people physically active and preventing diseases through sports engagement. ‘Aadudam Andhra’ aims to discover and nurture sporting talent from villages, providing opportunities to compete at state and national levels. Reddy expressed plans for professional leagues to collaborate with the state government, grooming identified talent into professionals as the competitions progress to the constituency level.
Collaborators for the initiative include the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) IPL team and Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) for cricket, and international players K Srikanth and PV Sindhu for badminton. Reddy announced ‘Aadudam Andhra’ as an annual event focused on promoting health awareness and talent identification. The sports event has witnessed registrations from 34 lakh participants across the state, with an expected audience of 87 lakh and a total prize money of Rs 12 crore.
