A plane carrying over 300 passengers, primarily Indians, which was grounded in France for four days over suspected human trafficking concerns, landed in Mumbai early on December 26. The Airbus A340, initially bound for Nicaragua, took off from Vatry airport near Paris at around 2:30 p.m. local time after being detained by French authorities.
The flight, which originated in Dubai with 303 passengers, was held at Vatry airport on Thursday over suspected human trafficking. French authorities questioned the detained passengers on Sunday as part of the investigation. The hearings, conducted by four French judges, were related to the suspicion of human trafficking. Despite initially authorizing the plane to leave, the French judges chose to cancel the hearings due to irregularities in the procedure. Notably, the aircraft included 11 unaccompanied minors, and two passengers who were in custody since Friday had their detention extended for up to 48 hours on Saturday evening, according to French prosecutors.
