Dense fog causes low visibility in various areas of Delhi

Dense fog severely reduces visibility in various parts of Delhi, with an orange alert issued by the Met department as visibility remains around 50 meters in many areas. The minimum temperature recorded is 7.8 degrees Celsius, slightly above normal. Trains are experiencing delays, and flight delays and cancellations are anticipated. The IMD’s color-coded alert system categorizes orange as a call for preparedness. Satellite images at 5:15 am show dense to very dense fog prevailing across the national capital.

Visibility at Delhi’s main weather station, Safdarjung, is recorded at 50 meters, while Palam reports 125 meters at 5:30 am. About 25 trains scheduled to arrive at Delhi railway stations are running behind schedule due to fog. The situation is expected to improve after 11 am, according to a Skymet official. The private weather forecasting agency’s official, Mahesh Palawat, notes, “Very dense fog engulfed Delhi NCR. Visibility is almost nil at many places. At 07:30 hours Palam has reported 50 meters of visibility. Take care and drive carefully. Improvement expected after 11 am.”
