Riyadh: Authorities in Saudi Arabia urged all expatriates to register fingerprints of their families’ members. The advisory was issued citing security and residency reasons. The Saudi General Directorate for Passport has issued the advisory.
The authority said that the fingerprinting is necessary for foreign residents aged six years and above. Registering fingerprints of the expatriates and their dependents is mandatory for having access to its services.

‘Registering the bio-features is a necessary requirement to complete procedures related to your family’s members from six years and above,’ said Saudi General Directorate for Passport.
Foreigners make up around 13.4 million of Saudi Arabia’s total population of 32.2 million. Asian nationals from three countries accounted for over 42 per cent of the total foreigners in Saudi Arabia. Bangladeshi nationals took the lead with 2.1 million, or around 15.08 per cent of the overall expatriates in Saudi Arabia, followed by Indians with 1.88 million and Pakistanis with 1.81 million.
Yemenis ranked the fourth among expatriates in Saudi Arabia with 1.8 million followed by Egyptians with 1.4 million, Sudanese with 819,000, Filipinos with 725,000 and Syrians with 449,000.
