Madhya Pradesh collision: Toll rises to 13

The death toll in the tragic accident involving a private bus that caught fire after colliding with a dumper in Madhya Pradesh’s Guna district has risen to 13, according to an official statement on Thursday. The collision occurred on the Guna-Aaron road around 9 pm on Wednesday when the bus, en route to Aaron, collided head-on with the dumper traveling toward Guna. The bus overturned and quickly turned into a fireball, leading to the death of 13 individuals who were charred, while 14 others sustained injuries.

Sub-divisional magistrate Dinesh Sanvle provided updates, mentioning that the newly recovered body, likely the dumper’s driver, added to the tragic toll. The injured passengers were promptly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Superintendent of Police Vijay Khatri informed that there were approximately 30 passengers on the bus during the incident, with four managing to escape and return home.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed his condolences and announced financial assistance, providing Rs 4 lakh each to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 each for the injured. The chief minister is on his way to Guna to meet the accident victims, and he has initiated an official probe into the incident. Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, upon learning about the tragedy, promptly directed local authorities to commence relief and rescue operations.
