The Delhi High Court, in a vacation bench headed by Justice Neena Bansal Krishna, rejected the urgent listing of a plea filed by Neelam Azad, one of the accused in the Parliament security breach case. Azad challenged her police remand, alleging insufficient legal access during trial court proceedings. The court noted no urgency in the matter and scheduled it for a regular hearing on January 3 after the winter vacation. Azad’s lawyer, Suresh Kumar Choudhary, had sought immediate release, claiming the remand was illegal and challenging the trial court’s December 21 order.
Neelam Azad, along with co-accused Amol Shinde, was arrested by Delhi Police for protesting outside the Parliament on December 13. Two other accused, Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan D, allegedly entered the Lok Sabha chamber from the visitors’ gallery, emitting smoke. They were also arrested on the same day.
Azad filed a petition in the Delhi HC, asserting that she was denied proper legal consultation during remand proceedings. Choudhary stated they are seeking the quashing of the remand order. The court dismissed her plea for urgent listing, emphasizing it will be heard on January 3.
