Russian President Vladimir Putin has invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Russia, expressing eagerness to discuss current issues and the future development of Russia-India relations. Putin conveyed this invitation during his meeting with External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar in Moscow. He stated, “We will be glad to see our friend Narendra Modi in Russia. We will be able to discuss all current issues and talk about the prospects for the development of Russia-India relations. We have so much work.”

Putin acknowledged his understanding of India’s position on Ukraine, expressing his desire for a peaceful resolution to the conflict. He emphasized Modi’s commitment to resolving the issue through peaceful means. Putin also expressed optimism about the stability of ties between the two nations, especially considering the upcoming elections in India.

Highlighting the positive trajectory of bilateral relations, Putin noted the consistent growth in trade turnover between Russia and India. He emphasized the significant progress in high-tech areas and the progressive development of relations. Earlier in the day, Jaishankar mentioned that the India-Russia Annual Summit would resume in 2024, after disruptions in the last two years due to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine in 2022 and diplomatic engagements during India’s G20 Presidency this year.
