Sabarimala Temple Sees Revenue Increase of 18.72 Crore

The revenue of Sabarimala temple during the Mandalam-Makaravilakku pilgrimage season has reached Rs 241 crore, marking an increase of Rs 18.72 crore compared to the corresponding period last season. P.S. Prasanth, the president of the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB), stated that last season’s revenue was Rs 22,98,70,250, and this time, there is a significant rise of Rs 18,72,51,461, attributable to the inclusion of income from ‘Kuthaka Lelam’ in the total revenue. Prasanth mentioned that the overall revenue for the Mandalam season is expected to rise further, taking into account collections on the final day and the substantial pile of coins received as offerings, estimated to be around Rs 6 crore. The income will also increase after factoring in the parking fee collected at Nilakkal.

The Sabarimala temple witnessed increased revenue, and officials anticipate continued growth with contributions on the final day and additional income from offerings and parking fees. The inclusion of income from ‘Kuthaka Lelam’ has played a significant role in the overall rise in revenue, making this season more financially successful than the previous one. The temple’s finances are set to further benefit from the substantial amount of coins received as offerings and the revenue generated from parking fees at Nilakkal, contributing to the overall economic prosperity of Sabarimala during the pilgrimage season.
