Delhi continues to experience “Very Poor” air quality, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) reading of 372 at 12 pm on Thursday, according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board. The average AQI recorded in the national capital at 4 pm on Wednesday was 380. An AQI between zero and 50 is considered “good,” 51 and 100 “satisfactory,” 101 and 200 “moderate,” 201 and 300 “poor,” 301 and 400 “very poor,” and 401 and 500 “severe.”
Dense fog has disrupted train operations in Delhi, causing delays in the arrival of several trains from Northern Railway stations to the national capital. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported “dense to very dense fog (0-25 metres)” in some areas of Uttar Pradesh, as well as isolated pockets over Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Southwest Rajasthan, and North Madhya Pradesh. Visibility below 30 metres was recorded in various locations, including Patiala, Ambala, Chandigarh Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Palam, Bareilly, Lucknow, Varanasi, and Gwalior. The IMD has issued advisories for drivers to use fog lights and for the public to stay informed about updated public transportation schedules. Passengers were urged to check live train status using the NTES (National Train Enquiry System). Additionally, over 100 flights were reportedly delayed at Delhi International Airport due to the dense fog affecting flight operations.
