Ex-Cricketer Ambati Rayadu Joins YSR Congress

Ambati Rayudu, the former Indian cricketer, has officially joined the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu (YSR) Congress. YSR Congress President and Andhra Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy welcomed Rayudu into the party during an induction ceremony on Thursday, attended by Deputy CM Narayanaswamy and MP Midhun Reddy. Rayudu had earlier announced his foray into politics in June, where he discussed plans for developing world-class sports infrastructure and education for the underprivileged with Jagan Mohan Reddy.

In a social media post in April, Rayudu had praised the Andhra CM, expressing complete belief and trust in his leadership. The cricketer retired from the Indian Premier League (IPL) after his team, Chennai Super Kings, secured a victory in May. Rayudu, who also retired from all forms of Indian cricket, had a successful cricket career, playing 55 ODIs for India and scoring 1694 runs with an average of 47.05. In domestic cricket, he represented Hyderabad, Andhra, Baroda, and Vidarbha, and in the IPL, he played for franchises like Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings, winning the IPL trophy six times.

Throughout his IPL career, Rayudu scored 4,348 runs in 204 matches with an average of 28.23 and a strike rate of 127.24. He is known for his success as a batter and his impressive trophy count, having lifted the IPL trophy with Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings on multiple occasions. Rayudu’s entry into politics marks a new chapter in his public life as he aligns himself with the YSR Congress.
