In Kerala, Ramachandran Kadannappally from Congress (S) and K B Ganesh Kumar from Kerala Congress (B) were sworn in as ministers in the CPI(M)-led LDF government on Friday. The oath of office was administered by Governor Arif Mohammed Khan in a ceremony at Raj Bhavan lawns attended by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, cabinet colleagues, and leaders of Left alliance partners. However, the Congress-led UDF boycotted the ceremony, protesting the inclusion of Ganesh Kumar, whom they accuse of conspiring against their late leader and former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy in the solar panel case.
Earlier, the Governor approved the state government’s proposal for the induction of two new ministers, following a cabinet reshuffle announced by the LDF on Sunday. The reshuffle was in accordance with an understanding among LDF partners, where ministers from Democratic Kerala Congress and Indian National League resigned to make way for the new ministers, adhering to the agreement to allocate cabinet berths to single MLA parties on a “sharing the term” basis due to constitutional limitations on the cabinet size.
