Tragic bus-truck collision in Madhya Pradesh claims 13 lives

In a tragic incident in Madhya Pradesh’s Guna district, a collision between a private bus and a truck resulted in a fiery catastrophe, claiming the lives of 13 individuals and causing injuries to at least 16 others on Wednesday night. The ill-fated bus, allegedly owned by the brother of ruling BJP leader Vishwanath Sikarwar, transformed into a fireball following the head-on collision. Shockingly, the bus had lapsed fitness and insurance certificates, and its road tax had remained unpaid since 2021.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, responding swiftly to the disaster, visited Guna district to meet the severely injured patients and console the grieving relatives of the deceased at the district hospital on Thursday. In a gesture of support, he announced financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh for each of the 13 deceased victims’ next of kin and Rs 50,000 for each severely injured passenger. Following the Chief Minister’s directive, a high-level investigation was initiated into the tragic accident. A four-member panel, led by the Guna additional district collector, will conduct the inquiry. Additionally, the Guna Regional Transport Officer (RTO) and the chief municipal officer faced immediate suspension due to their negligence, including the delayed arrival of fire tenders.
