In Bihar’s East Champaran district, a decommissioned airplane being transported from Lucknow to Assam on a truck became lodged under a bridge, causing significant traffic congestion, according to police reports. The incident unfolded near Piprakothi in Motihari around 11 am on Friday, with the front part of the fuselage successfully clearing the bridge, but the tail-end getting stuck. Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Raj from Motihari (Sadar) explained that the plane was eventually freed with the assistance of local authorities, truck drivers, and residents, allowing normal traffic flow to be restored after a few hours. The mishap occurred due to the driver’s miscalculation of the bridge’s height.
A video capturing the event went viral, depicting pedestrians and motorists seeking alternative routes as the airplane obstructed the road. This incident mirrors a similar occurrence in November 2022 when another aircraft being transported on a truck got stuck beneath a bridge in Andhra Pradesh’s Bapatla district, causing traffic disruptions for several hours.
