Dense Fog Causes Delay for 23 Trains in Delhi

On Sunday, railway officials reported that 23 trains in Delhi are experiencing delays due to dense fog causing low visibility in the region. The Puri-New Delhi Purushottam Express is notably delayed by nearly 7 hours, while the Howrah-New Delhi Poorva Express and Azamgarh-Delhi Kaifiyat Express face delays of 5 hours each. Additionally, several other trains, including the Saharsa-New Delhi Vaishali Express, Allahabad-New Delhi Prayagraj Express, and Rajendranagar-New Delhi Sampoorn Kranti, are running approximately 4 hours behind schedule. The Pune-Nizamudin Duronto is delayed by 2 hours, the Bhopal-Nizamuddin Express faces a 6-hour delay, and the Durg-Nizamuddin S Kranti is running late by 3.50 hours. The Chennai-New Delhi GT Express is also experiencing a delay of nearly 6 hours, according to railway authorities.

Simultaneously, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast indicating dense to very dense fog in various regions, including Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi. The forecast extends to many places in Uttar Pradesh, a few places in Uttarakhand, and isolated places in the northern parts of Rajasthan. Jammu and Kashmir, as well as the lower division of Himachal Pradesh, may experience dense fog at isolated places. The IMD predicts a further drop in mercury levels in the first week of January 2024, with temperatures ranging between 10 and 7 degrees Celsius at the Safdarjung Observatory in the national capital.
