PM Modi inaugrates Kovai-Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express

On Saturday, the inaugural run of the Vande Bharat Express train connecting Coimbatore and Bengaluru was ceremoniously initiated from the Coimbatore Railway Station. Virtually flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Ayodhya, the launch also included five additional Vande Bharat trains on different routes at 12:12 pm. The train’s maiden journey accommodated over 400 passengers, comprising students from an orphanage, media personnel, railway staff, and railway enthusiasts who boarded at Coimbatore and disembarked at Tirupur, Erode, and Salem. The official operation of the Vande Bharat Express between Coimbatore and Bengaluru is set to commence on January 1, allowing public travel on six days a week, excluding Thursdays.

The train’s schedule involves a 5 am departure from Coimbatore, with stops at Tirupur (5:36 am), Erode (6:17 am), Salem (7:12 am), Dharmapuri (8:18 am), and Hosur (9:48 am) before reaching Bengaluru Cantonment at 11:30 am. The return journey from Bengaluru departs at 1:40 pm, arriving at Coimbatore at 8 pm. Some members of the public have urged the Indian Railways to consider rescheduling the Coimbatore departure from 5 am to 6 am due to transportation challenges at that early hour. Ticket prices for the Vande Bharat Express are set at Rs 940 for chair car and Rs 1,860 for the executive class.
