Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during a public rally in Ayodhya, urged the nation’s 140 crore citizens to celebrate the consecration of the Ram Lalla idol on January 22 as Diwali by lighting lamps and igniting the Ramjyoti at home. While addressing the gathering, Modi appealed to people to avoid crowding Ayodhya on the consecration day to alleviate security stress and ensure smooth logistical management. Emphasizing the significance of the event, he encouraged citizens to let their homes shine with lamps, requesting them to refrain from visiting Ayodhya on January 22 to ensure the temple’s consecration occurs without disruption. Modi assured devotees that they could visit for darshan after January 23, urging patience from those who have waited for over 550 years.
During his visit to Ayodhya, the prime minister inaugurated the Maharishi Valmiki International Airport and the renovated Ayodhya Dham railway junction, while also laying the foundation for 46 projects worth Rs 15,700 crore. In addition, he flagged off two Amrit Bharat and six Vande Bharat trains. Modi called upon the people of Ayodhya to make the temple town the cleanest in the country, anticipating a continuous influx of visitors. He urged a week-long cleanliness drive across India, specifically at temples, from January 14 to January 21, coinciding with Makarsankranti day. Modi concluded his visit with a surprise visit to the home of Meera Manjhi, the 10th crore beneficiary of the free gas connection scheme, in Ayodhya.
