Mysuru Sculptor’s Idol of Ram Lalla to Find Place in Ayodhya Temple

The Ram Lalla idol crafted by Mysuru-based sculptor Arun Yogiraj has been chosen for installation at Ayodhya’s Ram Temple during the significant ‘Prana Prathistapana Muhurtham’ on January 22. Yogiraj’s idol was selected from a shortlist of three by the Ram Janmabhoomi Trust through a voting process on Monday, as confirmed by his family members.

Utilizing a unique Krishna shila (stone) from Bujjegoudanapura village in HD Kote taluk of Mysuru district, Arun Yogiraj and his team sculpted the Ram Lalla idol. Renowned for his craftsmanship, Yogiraj has previously created notable statues, including the 30-foot statue of Subhash Chandra Bose at Amar Jawan Jyoti in New Delhi, the 12-foot statue of Adi Shankaracharya in Kedarnath, the 21-foot statue of Lord Hanuman in Chunchanakatte, the 15-foot statue of Dr. BR Ambedkar, and the statue of Swami Ramakrishna Paramahamsa in Mysuru. His achievement has garnered praise from prominent leaders in Mysuru and politicians, including former Chief Minister Yediyurappa, who expressed joy over Yogiraj’s idol being selected for installation at the Sri Rama Mandir in Ayodhya.
