Centre focuses on village welfare plans

Niti, the final village in Chamoli district along the China border, is set to be connected by a double-lane road this year. The ongoing developmental work, including hill cutting and asphalt work, is in its final stages. The Oasis company, handling the construction, expects to complete the double-lane road by October this year, covering approximately 17.35 kilometers from Malari to Niti village. The road connects several border area villages, such as Kailashpur, Farkiya, Banpa, Gamshali, and Niti, aiming to improve accessibility for devotees visiting the Timmarsain cave.

The expansion project is crucial for easing challenges faced by pilgrims seeking blessings from Baba Barfani at the Timmarsain Mahadev cave. Despite temporary halts during the New Year due to devotees’ difficulties in reaching the cave, the construction has made significant progress. The challenging geographical conditions, including rocky terrain, have been successfully navigated in widening efforts from Gamshali to Niti village. Notably, the development of a double-lane road in Niti village aligns with the central government’s “Vibrant Village Programme,” which prioritizes the development of 51 border villages in Uttarakhand and aims to enhance road connectivity in these regions. The initiative covers a total of 2,967 villages along the northern borders in 46 blocks across 19 districts, with a focus on boosting infrastructure and connectivity.
