Mumbai: The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the latest ranking update. India’s Virat Kohli re-entered the top 10 in the ICC Test rankings. The former Indian skipped is placed in the ninth position.
Kohli, a previous top-ranked batter was fell out of the top 10 in mid-2022. Now he has moved up four spots to ninth place with scores of 38 and 76. Kohli is also the only Indian batter in the top 10 of the ICC Rankings. Rishabh Pant is the only other Indian in the top 15 of the ICC Test Batting Rankings. The wicketkeeper-batter is at the 12th spot.
Kane Williamson of New Zealand is in the top position with 864 points. England’s Joe Root comes in second with 859 rating points, while Australia’s Steve Smith comes in third with 820. New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell is at the 3rd spot while Australia’s Usman Khawaja slipped a place to 4th. Pakistan’s Babar Azam has dropped to No. 5.
‘Former India captain Virat Kohli has returned to the top 10 of the ICC Men’s Test Player Rankings while South Africa opener Dean Elgar has made a huge jump after his Player of the Match effort in the first Test of the two-match ICC World Test Championship series in Centurion, which the home side won by an innings and 32 runs to take a 1-0 lead,’ ICC announced in a official statement.

Meanwhile, India skipper Rohit Sharma dropped four places to 14th position in the Test rankings. South African veteran Dean Elgar jumped 19 places to 17th (680).

Jasprit Bumrah re-entered the bowlers rankings, finishing fifth (767), just behind compatriot Ravindra Jadeja (774). Marco Jansen climbed to 22nd (618).
