Salman Khan and Karan Johar are all set to collaborate after 25 years for The Bull

Salman Khan and Karan Johar are set to collaborate after a 25-year hiatus, following their previous collaboration on Karan’s directorial debut “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.” This time, Salman will take on the lead role in Karan’s upcoming production titled “The Bull.” The film’s shoot commenced with the mahurat shot in Mumbai on December 29, marking the beginning of their new project. “The Bull” is backed by Karan’s Dharma Productions and will be directed by Vishnu Vardhan, known for his work on “Shershaah.”

In “The Bull,” Salman will portray Brigadier Farukh Bulsara, a character based on a real-life individual who led Operation Cactus in the Maldives in 1988. The film will narrate the events of the operation, where Indian armed forces assisted the Maldives in reclaiming control following a coup attempt led by businessman Abdullah Luthufi and the People’s Liberation Organisation of Tamil Eelam (PLOTE). Salman’s character is a paramilitary officer, and the film is set to start filming in February 2024, with an Eid 2025 release.

Salman is reportedly undergoing extensive training, dedicating 3.5 hours daily to embody the physicality required for the role. Karan Johar had hinted at the collaboration in a birthday wish to Salman on December 27, sharing a throwback photo from “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai” and recalling their initial meeting.

The film marks a significant reunion for the actor-director duo after a quarter-century, and “The Bull” is expected to bring a compelling retelling of Operation Cactus to the big screen, showcasing the Indian armed forces’ role in restoring control in the Maldives.
