PM Modi’s Kerala Visit: Palakkad on March 15, Pathanamthitta on March 17

PM Narendra Modi is scheduled for his fourth visit to Kerala within three months, just ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. On March 15, he will arrive in Palakkad to conduct a roadshow in support of C Krishna Kumar, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) state vice-president and candidate for the Palakkad constituency. Kumar, who secured 2.18 lakh votes and finished third in the 2019 elections, notably increased the BJP’s vote share by 6.5% in the area.

Subsequently, on March 17, PM Modi will visit Pathanamthitta to join the election campaign alongside BJP candidate Anil Antony. Antony, the son of Congress Working Committee member A.K. Antony, caused a stir within the Congress party when he defected to the BJP last year. The BJP is banking on Antony’s presence and the support of seasoned politician P.C. George, who recently merged his party with the BJP, to strengthen their outreach to the Christian community in Central Kerala’s rubber-growing belt.

PM Modi’s visit to Kerala follows his recent trip on February 27, during which he disclosed the names of four astronauts chosen for India’s Gaganyaan mission and addressed the public on the final day of the BJP’s Padayatra. As the election season heats up, one of the most anticipated contests will be for the Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha seat, where Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar will face off against incumbent MP and Congress leader Shashi Tharoor.
