NTR District Commissioner of Police Kanthi Rana Tata has announced a cash reward of Rs 2 lakh for anyone who provides information leading to the identification and arrest of the individual responsible for the stone-pelting incident targeting Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. The attack occurred during the CM’s Memantha Siddham Bus Yatra at Sri Vivekananda School on Daba Kottu road, resulting in injuries to the Chief Minister’s forehead and former minister Velampalli Srinivasa Rao’s left eye. CP Kanthi Rana Tata assured the media on Monday of the police’s capability to swiftly apprehend the culprit, disclosing the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) comprising eight officers with expertise in city crime and Task Force units.
Individuals who provide information, video footage, CCTV recordings, or photographs leading to the arrest of the suspect will be eligible for the Rs 2 lakh reward, with their identities kept confidential. CP Kanthi Rana Tata encouraged the public to directly contact designated police officials to share any pertinent information. Following a complaint filed by Velampalli Srinivasa Rao, the Ajit Singh Nagar police registered a case under charges of attempted murder and deployed eight teams to identify the perpetrators behind the stone-pelting incident.
In response to concerns about temporary power disconnection at the incident site, Rana clarified that it was a precautionary measure taken for the safety of the chief minister, given the high risk of electrocution posed by electrical wires and cables in the area.
