Sandalwood mourns the passing of veteran actor-director Dwarakish

Renowned Sandalwood actor and director Dwarakish has passed away at the age of 81 after battling a prolonged illness. His illustrious career in the Kannada film industry began in 1964 with his debut in the movie “Veera Sankalpa.” Over the years, he made significant contributions as an actor, comedian, and supporting artist, leaving an indelible mark on Sandalwood.

Born on August 19, 1942, in Hunsur, Mysore district, Dwarakish received his education at Sharada Vilas & Banumya School and later pursued Mechanical Engineering at CPC Polytechnic College. Alongside the late actor Vishnuvardhan, he formed the iconic duo known as “Kalla-kulla,” sharing a close bond and collaborating on numerous successful films.

In his career, Dwarakish not only excelled as an actor but also made notable achievements as a producer. He ventured into independent production with films like “Mamateya Bandhana” and “Mayor Muttanna,” marking significant milestones in Kannada cinema. With over 200 film appearances and 53 productions to his credit, Dwarakish’s legacy in Sandalwood remains unparalleled.
