Another targeted killing occurred in Jammu and Kashmir as the Lok Sabha elections approached, with terrorists fatally shooting a migrant laborer from Bihar in Anantnag district on Wednesday. Identified as Raju Shah, he was shot at close range in the Bijbehara area, sustaining critical injuries before succumbing to them at the hospital.
This incident marks the second targeted killing in the region this year. Earlier, on February 7, unidentified militants killed a Sikh man from Punjab in Srinagar, while another civilian was seriously injured. Amritpal Singh, aged 31 and a resident of Amritsar, was fatally shot in the Habba Kadal area.
The last such attack prior to this occurred in October 2023, when a migrant worker from Uttar Pradesh was killed in Pulwama. The recent surge in violence against non-local workers is part of a series of attacks carried out by militants in the Valley, including areas like Anantnag and Shopian districts. Additionally, security forces conducted an operation in Anantnag, resulting in the detention of two individuals after arms, including a hand grenade, were seized from them.
