Indian airports on high alert following ‘Terrorizers 111’ threat of bloodshed

A purported email from a group identifying as Terrorizers 111 has triggered heightened security measures at 24 airports and terminals nationwide. Security protocols, including anti-sabotage screenings and reinforced cordons, have been intensified following the threatening communication. The Central Industrial Security Forces (CISF) are on heightened alert at multiple locations in response to the email received from the address 666darktriad666@gmail.com, which was also sent to the general manager of East Central Railways.

Efforts by leading cyber security and IT agencies are underway to trace the origin of the Gmail account, suspected to have been generated from the dark web and sent as a ‘spoof’. The email, dispatched at 9:27 am on Monday, prompted swift mobilization of security and intelligence agencies across the nation. Despite the specific mention of airports as potential targets, the email was also distributed to various other organizations, including CISF, banks, business groups, and holiday companies.

While the email suggested the placement of explosives at airports, security officials view it as more likely to be a prank than a genuine terror threat. Nevertheless, security measures have been escalated, with comprehensive checks conducted by anti-sabotage and bomb disposal squads. Multiple security agencies, including the Maharashtra anti-terrorist squad and state and central intelligence agencies, have converged at airports to conduct security drills and review protocols.
