Bomb threats target over 50 Delhi-NCR schools; search in progress

Several schools in Delhi received bomb threats via email, leading to swift action from police officials who initiated thorough search operations on-site. Among the targeted schools were Sanskriti School in the Chanakyapuri police station area, Mother Mary School in Mayur Vihar, DPS School in Dwarka, DAV School, Amity School in Pushp Vihar and Saket, and Sanskriti School in New Delhi.

In response to the threats, schools like Mother Mary had to halt ongoing exams and declare emergencies, urging everyone to evacuate immediately. DPS School also informed parents about the threat via email, opting to send students home as a precautionary measure. The police dispatched bomb disposal squads and Delhi Fire Service officials to the affected schools to conduct searches and ensure safety.

Initial investigations suggest that the threatening emails were sent from outside the country, with the IP address possibly masked through a VPN. However, upon arriving at the scene, fire department sources discovered that it might have been a simulated practice. This incident echoes a similar occurrence in February when Delhi Public School in RK Puram received a bomb threat call, resulting in an evacuation, although no suspicious items were found afterward.
