Delhi court recognizes charges against NewsClick founder for alleged terror funding

Recent developments in the case involving Prabir Purkayastha, the founder and Editor-in-Chief of NewsClick, have captured attention. Reports reveal that a Delhi court has acknowledged a charge sheet filed against Purkayastha under the anti-terror law UAPA. Allegations suggest that NewsClick received funds with the intention of spreading pro-China propaganda.

Details from the charge sheet shed light on the allegations against Purkayastha, indicating his involvement in unlawful activities such as collecting funds for terrorist acts and conspiracy. Shockingly, it’s reported that NewsClick received a substantial amount of Rs 91 crore, allegedly utilized for terrorist activities.

The charge sheet paints a troubling picture, suggesting a concerted effort dating back to 2016 to raise funds for unlawful activities and terrorist acts. It alleges that PP NewsClick India LLP was converted into a private Ltd. company to facilitate the inflow of funds under the guise of investment and service agreements. Additionally, the Delhi Police’s Special Cell alleges Purkayastha’s ties to terrorist organizations like Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), accusing him of providing financial assistance to the banned outfit, which operates in Jammu and Kashmir.
