Army seizes large cache of weapons, explosives in Poonch

In a significant operation, the Indian Army’s Romeo Force seized a large cache of weapons and explosives in the Jhullas area of Poonch district, Jammu and Kashmir. Acting on a tip-off, the Army launched a search operation that led to the discovery of a suspected terrorist’s bag containing a variety of arms and explosives. The recovered items included AK-47 and pistol rounds of Pakistani origin, along with sophisticated explosive devices such as RCIEDs, time-destruction IEDs, stove IEDs, and Chinese grenades.

According to Army officials, all the seized materials were in functional condition and could have been used to disrupt security during the ongoing election period. This operation is viewed as a significant success in preventing potential terrorist activity aimed at destabilizing the security grid in the region. The search operation is still ongoing to ensure the area is fully secured.

In a separate development, an earlier area domination patrol by police and army on Ring Road Gharota in Jammu uncovered a suspicious explosive, which was safely neutralized by a bomb disposal squad. Meanwhile, security forces in Kupwara successfully eliminated two terrorists as part of “Operation GUGALDHAR” and recovered war-like stores from the site. The operation in Kupwara remains ongoing as searches continue.
