Union Minister Suresh Gopi confirmed that he used an ambulance to access the Thrissur Pooram venue due to a leg injury, which made it challenging to navigate the large crowd. Gopi explained he initially traveled about five kilometers by car but was attacked by goons, from whom he was later rescued by nearby youth. He questioned if anyone would have the courage to call in the CBI for an investigation into the incident.
Speaking to the media, Gopi dismissed allegations about disrupting the Thrissur Pooram celebrations, describing them as attempts to deflect attention from the Karuvannur issue, which he claimed significantly impacted Thrissur’s voter sentiment. He also questioned why the police had not filed a case based on witness accounts stating he arrived by ambulance and emphasized that he had not made any disparaging comments about anyone’s family.
Regarding the ongoing controversies, Gopi pointed out that issues surrounding the ADM’s death were not new and shared that he recently discussed this matter with the Petroleum Minister. He added that NOCs issued over the last ten years would be thoroughly examined as part of the investigation.
