Prime Minister Narendra Modi has commenced a five-day visit to Nigeria, Brazil, and Guyana, focusing on strengthening ties and attending key international engagements. In Nigeria, his first stop, PM Modi will meet with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to bolster the strategic partnership between the two nations, emphasizing shared democratic values. He will also interact with the Indian community in the country.
The visit’s second leg in Brazil will see PM Modi participating in the 19th G20 Summit as a Troika member. Building on India’s successful G20 presidency, Modi highlighted the continuity of prioritizing the Global South in the summit agenda, aligning with the vision of “One Earth, One Family, One Future.” He is also scheduled to hold bilateral discussions with global leaders on the summit’s sidelines.
In Guyana, marking the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister in over five decades, Modi will engage with President Mohamed Irfaan Ali and address the Guyanese Parliament. He plans to honor the Indian diaspora’s legacy and strengthen the partnership between the two democracies. Additionally, he will participate in the 2nd India-CARICOM Summit, reinforcing historical ties and exploring new areas of cooperation with Caribbean partner nations.
