Karachi: At least 7 people, including security personnel, are feared dead and 10 others injured in a deadly attack on a security check post in Pakistan. Heavily armed terrorists attacked a security checkpoint in Kallat district in Balochistan. The banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for the attack.
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) confirmed that mobile internet services have been temporarily suspended in certain areas of Balochistan, citing public safety concerns amidst a recent surge in terrorist attacks. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the attack offering tributes to the deceased.

Balochistan, which shares borders with Iran and Afghanistan, holds strategic importance due to its vast reserves of copper, zinc, and natural gas. The province is also crucial to the $64 billion Pakistan-China Economic Corridor. The mineral-rich province has witnessed deadly attacks on both security forces and civilians this month, including a suicide bombing at a railway station in the provincial capital Quetta that left 28 people dead. The BLA claimed responsibility for that bombing.
