Kejriwal avoids query on Gahlot resignation, defers to senior AAP leader

Arvind Kejriwal, AAP’s national convener, avoided addressing questions about the sudden resignation of Delhi Minister Kailash Gahlot during a press conference welcoming ex-BJP MLA Anil Jha into the party. When asked about Gahlot’s departure, Kejriwal handed the microphone to senior AAP leader Durgesh Pathak, who suggested Gahlot’s resignation was due to months of scrutiny, including raids and questioning by ED and Income Tax authorities. Pathak alleged that these actions indicated BJP’s desperation after losing ground in Delhi, accusing the party of misusing central agencies while AAP remained focused on public issues.

Kailash Gahlot resigned from AAP’s primary membership, citing “serious challenges” facing the party and concerns over its direction. In his resignation letter to Kejriwal, he criticized the party’s handling of controversies like the “Sheeshmahal” issue, which he claimed undermined AAP’s foundational principles. Gahlot expressed frustration over the ongoing conflicts between the Delhi government and the Centre, arguing that such disputes hinder Delhi’s progress and left him no choice but to step away from the party.

Gahlot emphasized his commitment to serving Delhi’s people and his disappointment with AAP’s inability to prioritize governance over political battles. He concluded his letter by reaffirming his dedication to public service, stating that his resignation was a step toward fulfilling his responsibility to the citizens of Delhi.
