The Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand will begin on April 30, 2025, with the opening of the Gangotri and Yamunotri temples. This revered pilgrimage covers four significant shrines: Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath, all nestled in the picturesque Himalayas. The opening of Badrinath temple is scheduled for May 4, 2025, while the date for Kedarnath will be announced on Mahashivratri, February 26, 2025. The Yatra attracts millions of devotees each year, offering a spiritually enriching experience surrounded by nature’s grandeur.
The Char Dham Yatra holds immense religious significance. Sacred texts suggest that the pilgrimage helps absolve individuals of all sins, offering them liberation from the cycle of birth and death. It is believed that undertaking this journey leads to salvation and spiritual enlightenment. The pilgrimage is not only about visiting the shrines but also about personal growth, spiritual awakening, and connection to the divine.
To facilitate participation, registration for the Char Dham Yatra will soon be available online and offline. Around 60% of registrations will be handled online, starting March 1, 2025, through the official Uttarakhand government website. The remaining 40% will be registered offline, with 20 centers in Haridwar and Rishikesh and 15 counters in Vikasnagar. For the first 15 days, offline registration will be available round-the-clock, and depending on demand, the hours may later adjust to 8 AM to 11 PM.
