Delta Airlines plane crashes at Toronto Pearson, 18 injured

A Delta Airlines plane crashed at Toronto Pearson International Airport on Monday, injuring 18 people, including a child. According to Peel Regional Paramedic Services, three of the injured are in critical condition. The aircraft, arriving from Minneapolis, reportedly flipped while landing. The airport confirmed the incident on X, stating that emergency teams responded immediately and that all passengers and crew members had been accounted for. Local police and paramedics established a staging area near the runway as investigations into the crash began.

Following the crash, Toronto Pearson briefly suspended all arrivals and departures before resuming normal flight operations. Delta Airlines stated that the aircraft carried 76 passengers and four crew members. The airline assured that it was in contact with affected travelers and advised customers to check flight updates via the Fly Delta app. The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) imposed a temporary ground stop at the airport. Meanwhile, Peel Regional Police confirmed that while most passengers were unharmed, authorities remained on-site to ensure a thorough investigation.

This accident is the latest in a series of recent air crashes in North America, raising safety concerns. Earlier this month, a turboprop plane traveling from Unalakleet to Nome, Alaska, disappeared, with wreckage later found on a drifting ice floe, killing all 10 passengers. In late January, an American Airlines regional jet collided midair with a U.S. military Black Hawk helicopter while landing at Reagan Washington National Airport, resulting in 67 fatalities. Authorities continue to investigate these incidents amid growing concerns over aviation safety.
