
Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, at Hyderabad House in New Delhi on Tuesday, where the two leaders engaged in delegation-level talks. The meeting marked a significant moment in their ongoing diplomatic discussions, further strengthening the relationship between India and Qatar. Sheikh Tamim’s visit is part of a two-day state trip to India, which began on Monday.
In a special diplomatic gesture, Prime Minister Modi personally welcomed Sheikh Tamim at Palam Technical Airport in Delhi, describing him as a “brother” and expressing his hopes for a fruitful visit. The Amir of Qatar was accompanied by a high-level delegation, including ministers, senior officials, and business leaders. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar also met with the Amir following his arrival.
The visit serves to bolster the growing India-Qatar partnership, especially in sectors like trade, energy, and cultural exchange. With the Indian diaspora in Qatar being the largest expatriate community, the visit highlights their important contribution to Qatar’s development. The ongoing cooperation between the two nations is rooted in strong historical ties and regular high-level engagements.
