UP Assembly becomes first in India to install translation system

The Uttar Pradesh Assembly session, beginning on Tuesday, will make history as the first in the country to be equipped with a translator facility. A proposal for this arrangement will be presented before the Ruling Committee and implemented upon approval. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has already reviewed translation rehearsals for Awadhi, Braj, Bhojpuri, Bundelkhand, and English in the Assembly. The session is expected to focus on significant issues such as the Prayagraj stampede and Sambhal violence.

Ahead of the session, an all-party meeting was preceded by a Working Committee meeting on Monday, chaired by Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana. The committee approved the proposed schedule for the budget session, which will run from February 18 to March 5. The session will commence with Governor Anandiben Patel’s address in a joint meeting of both houses. Legislative discussions, including a vote of thanks for the Governor’s address, will take place from February 19 to 21. The government is set to present the state budget for the 2025-26 financial year on February 20, with an estimated allocation of around ?7.5 lakh crore.

The budget discussion is scheduled for February 24, 25, 27, and 28, while March 3 to 5 will focus on budget grant demands. The final budget approval will take place on March 5. Additionally, during the session, two ordinances—the Uttar Pradesh Municipal Planning and Amendment Ordinance 2025 and the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (Amendment) Ordinance 2025—will be presented for consideration.
