The largest bus and truck maker Tata Motors on Wednesday entered the AMT (automated manual transmission) segment buses. The AMT range include buses in the 9-12 meters category with a seating capacity of 23-54 passengers, and is priced at Rs 21 lakh ex-showroom Delhi.
The vehicles come from the Starbus and Ultra brand of buses, the company said in a note, adding they are specially developed for city applications with heavy traffic and offers up to 3 per cent more fuel efficiency.
“The launch of our range of AMT buses is yet another example of how best we understand our customers. Having developed the AMT technology for our buses with Wabco, we will continue to work with partners like them to develop and introduce products with best-in-class value proposition, delivering world-class solutions for customers,” Ravi Pisharody, executive director – commercial vehicles at Tata Motors said.
