The Ministry of Health & Prevention (MOHAP) announced that it has successfully examined 453 women of all nationalities, since the launch of its free breast cancer screening campaign. The campaign was launched to raise awareness about the importance of detecting cancer in its early stages. It is scheduled to continue until 15 June, and supports the wise leadership’s declaration of 2017 as the Year of Giving.
Dr. Ayesha Abdullah, head of the Early Breast Cancer Screening Campaign Team, noted that the campaign successfully oversaw the screening of 241 women in Dubai at Festival City, and the Mall of the Emirates. 156 women were successfully screened in Sharjah at Sahara Mall and Mega mall, and 55 women were screened at Ajman’s City Health Centre.
The campaign will continue to Umm Al Quwain the 7th to the 8th of June at Al Khazan Health Centre, and will move to Ras Al Khamiah Mall for the 11th and 12th of June. The campaign will conclude at Fujairah City Centre from the 14th to the 15th of June.
As part of the campaign, the Ministry has also set up a mobile clinic to facilitate mammograms. The clinics will be equipped with specialized medical and technical staff, and will be operational from June 21. Participating women will be able to receive their results once the mammogram is complete. Educational pamphlets and newsletters will be distributed among the participating women. They will also be provided therapeutic counseling, according to the highest international standards.
