Gionee on Tuesday launched Gionee A1 Plus smartphone in India. Like the A1, the A1 Plus will be available to buy via offline retail stores in the country. Its retail availability starts from Wednesday, July 26, and the company has not mentioned whether the smartphone will become available to buy via online stores at a later date.
Both the Gionee A1 and Gionee A1 Plus were the first models in the company’s new A-Series of smartphones, which featured two USPs – big batteries and a superior selfie-experience. The company is also touting the bundled 18W ‘ultrafast’ charger that can charge the battery fully in just 2 hours. Another highlight of the Gionee A1 Plus over its smaller sibling is the use of dual rear cameras.
The Gionee A1 Plus price in India is Rs. 26,999, making it significantly more expensive that the Gionee A1 that was launched at Rs. 19,999 in the country. Gionee has not detailed any launch offers for the smartphone.
Gionee A1 Plus specifications
While the Gionee A1 Plus is significantly more expensive than the Gionee A1, it is much better endowed as well. Gionee A1 Plus specifications include dual-SIM (Nano) support, and it runs Amigo 4 OS based on Android 7.0 Nougat. It sports a 6-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) IPS display.
The smartphone is powered by a MediaTek Helio P25 octa-core SoC clocked at up to 2.6GHz, coupled with 4GB of RAM.
The selfie-centric Gionee A1 Plus sports a 20-megapixel front camera with an f/2.0 aperture, 1/2.8-inch sensor, and selfie flash. On the rear, it bears a dual camera setup, with a 13-megapixel autofocus 1/3.06-inch sensor bearing an f/2.0 aperture, a 5-megapixel fixed focus sensor bearing an f/2.2 aperture, and a flash module that integrates and IR remote control sensor.
The Gionee A1 Plus model launched in India comes with 64GB of inbuilt storage, which is expandable via microSD card (up to 256GB) in a hybrid dual-SIM configuration.
Connectivity options on the smartphone include 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.0, Micro-USB with OTG support, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Sensors on board include accelerometer, ambient light sensor, gyroscope, and proximity sensor. It is powered by a 4550mAh battery, measures 166.4×83.3×9.1mm, and weighs 226 grams.
