The last few years saw a lag in the music department, especially patriotic songs and Onam aria. A few news papers even lamented the deficit in this department. Seeing the need for such songs, a Malayalam album by the name Kalppadukal is released. Unlike other albums, this one is special. Each song is carefully crafted to sound not only patriotic but also as something that invokes patriotism in the average Keralite. The song Bharatham Njangalude Mannanu is a stirring rendition to the Bharath, a warning, even, against the sinister forces that threaten the Bharath. The lyrics are penned by the talented Irumbanam Gopalan, music composed by Francis Valappad. The catchy tunes are sung by Kester, Daleema and Soudha. The video directed by Vijayan East Coast shows a visual rendition of the lyrics thanks to the sharp direction.
It is highly unlikely that such catchy lyrics and beautiful music direction can be missed by anyone. The song Bharatham Njangalude Mannanu not only takes us back to the olden times that spoke the language of patriotism, it also takes us back to the era of love – love for the country and love for the nation, an era where patriotism was romanticized by all. Hopefully, this is an album for nostalgia for you.
