The Kerala State Co-operatives Consumers’ Federation Ltd (Consumerfed) will open 3,500 Onam markets in the state during the upcoming festival season. This was announced by Consumerfed chairman M Mehaboob .
The Onam markets would function from August 25 to September 3, he said adding that 2,575 Onam markets would be opened in 961 panchayats, 581 markets in the 87 municipalities and 129 markets in the six corporations in the state.
“As many as 13 essential commodities will be sold at 30-60% discounted rates at the fairs. Ten items will be sold at a discount of 20-40%. The items would be made available through Triveni supermarkets apart from consumer and fishermen’s societies,” he said. Special Onam kits would also be made available at markets, but the price of it is yet to be fixed.
