Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Edappadi K. Palaniswami intends to integrate yoga in every school. The Tamil Nadu CM was addressing a gathering at the appointment function of 2000 graduate teachers at the University of Madras when he pointed out that yoga would ensure physical and mental strength of the students. The School Education Department, however, asked students to ‘sincerely’ participate in the classes that would be introduced soon.
Talking about the government’s commitment towards a better education system, the CM also announced a better and transparent recruitment process for teachers and the opening of Anna Centenary Library which would help students prepare for the competitive exams through video conferencing. For success of the same, a record 10,000 teachers would be trained. Yesterday, the CM handed out appointment letters to 2000 graduate teachers and 58 special educators.
Though not mandatory, the Ministry of Human Resource Development has been pushing the positive effects of yoga. Many schools have also agreeably included the exercise within the curriculum, welcoming the positives of meditation and the physical benefits of yoga.
