Civic Polls : BJP gets ‘youngest’ mayor in UP
Multiple celebration for Firozabad as elections were held for the first time for Municipal Corporation that was formed in 2014 and was won by a young 31-year-old educated woman, Nutan Rathore. In fact she will be the youngest mayor in UP.
The newly elected BJP mayor secured 98932 votes and won by a margin of 42392 votes from AIMIM candidate, Masrur Fatima.
After completing her MBA, Nutan worked with NGOs. Before getting associated with Mahila Chetna Manch, Bhopal, she had also worked with Oxfam India.
Nutan said her education and working experience with NGOs will help her in meeting the aspirations of the people and fulfill the responsibilities of her job.
“For understanding the problems of people and for doing development work, proper management is require and my experience will surely help,” she said.
She told that her father, Mangal Singh Rathore, who has been associated with BJP for several years, has been her political mentor. “My father was city president of the party and a district office bearer,” she said adding that he helped her a lot in effectively campaigning for the mayor’s post.
