Found flesh-eating bug which attacked her vagina.

A mother has revealed how a cyst on her groin turned into a deadly flesh-eating bug which attacked her vagina – and almost killed her.

Tammy Peel, 39, reportedly underwent surgery to remove tissue from her labia, part of her thigh and stomach to halt the spread of the disease.

The four-hour surgery in January came after doctors told her she had sepsis as well as a condition called necrotizing fasciitis, a bacterial infection attacking tissue beneath the skin.

She was also reportedly concerned she may never have sex again.

The mum, from Essex, told The Sun she had to give up sex for three months with husband Simon.
“I suffer from type 2 diabetes, and as a result occasionally have cysts develop,” she said.

“Diabetes is a debilitating illness and people can die of the ramifications just like me.

“I want people to know what I went through and help others who have had similar experiences.”
She is a mum of two boys, 21 and 20, and a girl, 12.

She told The Daily Star: “My vagina will never be the same again but I’m learning to accept to work with what I’ve got.

“It was such a horrible thing to go through. I nearly died and feared that my husband and I might never be able to have sex again.”
Necrotising fasciitis is a rare bacterial infection that attacks tissue under the skin, surrounding muscles and organs.

Though called flesh-eating disease it actually releases toxins that damage the nearby tissue.

Symptoms include small painful scratch on the skin, intense pain, high temperature then followed by diarrhea and vomiting.
